How two friends turned their Bubble Huts into a thriving Airbnb
We’re partnering with Airbnb to share stories of successful Bubble Hut hosts, delving into the details around how they got started, what they love about hosting and what it has made possible for them. We’re hoping to inspire you to consider hosting your Bubble Hut on Airbnb.
We recently asked two Superhosts and best friends to share with us what their journey has been like hosting on Airbnb and why they decided to use the Bubble Huts brand of tent as their guest accommodation.
Bernie and Tyler’s journey started back in 2016 when the two of them began searching for different ways to generate income and began their entrepreneurial journey with short-term rentals. This search led them to Airbnb, where they first listed their personal home for guests to enjoy.
Having success and lots of fun meeting people from all around the world is what led them to expand what they offered by adding additional listings on Airbnb, thus ultimately creating their full-time occupation as entrepreneurs in the hospitality sector.
Once they made the decision to devote themselves to hosting guests full-time, they began looking for ways in which they could create an incredible unique space for guests, something that would allow them to stand out against all the other rentals being offered locally and share a connection about design with the guest community.
They soon discovered Bubble Huts while doing some research on Google. After consulting with a Bubble Huts team member, they soon understood the company’s dedication to the quality of their tents, their drive for continuous innovation, and their commitment to their clients. All of that combined with the fact that they are also located nearby in Arizona made the decision an easy one.
It took Bernie and Tyler only about 12 months to become profitable. Creating and hosting a site that is off-grid in this particular rugged remote location required a larger initial investment of $20,000 considering they had to purchase a Bubble Huts tent, build a deck, add the furnishings, bedding and lines, as well as, solar panels with generators.
Bernie and Tyler’s Airbnb is open for guests from March to October with the average gross monthly income of $5,500.00 and has earned over 250 positive reviews since they began hosting in 2018.
“Our journey with Airbnb has been absolutely incredible”, Bernie shared. “It has been an unforgettable experience for both Tyler and I, having the opportunity to meet amazing and adventurous guests that only a bubble tent could attract.”
Bernie and Tyler expressed that without Airbnb, they would not be as successful as they are today and that thousands of people would not have experienced sleeping under the stars in a Bubble Hut without being able to book a unique stay like theirs.
They strongly believe Airbnb is an irreplaceable partner; the communication, marketing, guest and Host issue resolution available to them through Airbnb is unparalleled.
Bernie and Tyler told us that they would recommend hosting Bubble Huts on Airbnb to professional Hosts, and also those looking to devote their time and business to it. While the bubble tent’s unique nature can be challenging and comes with its own learning curves, the payoff for Hosts and the experience for guests are absolutely worth it.
We asked them if they had any secrets for success to share with future Hosts, and this is what they told us; be committed to providing clear and direct communication with guests, making it your priority that the guests understands what to expect and receives the experience they paid for.
If you are planning on visiting the Grand Canyon and want a unique and memorable experience, be sure to book your stay at Bernie and Tyler’s Airbnb.
